We are a team comprised of employees of the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference and countless volunteers who give their time and energy to the creation, preservation and maitenance of trails. Our main goal at Bear Mountain is to relocate the three-mile long original section of the Appalachian Trail (AT) over Bear Mountain State Park. This section of the AT was first built in 1923, but has become dangerous due to erosion and high-use! This is understandable considering that Bear Mountain State Park hosts three million visitors annually and is one of the closest parks to our major urban center: NYC.
